Frame Medic by Studio River

A fluid Blender viewport. In one click.

For Blender 4.0 to 5.2

Frame Medic finds what slows your viewport, measures it on your machine and lightens the view with Heal This Scene. Final renders keep full quality, and nothing Relief changes is saved in your file.

The ultimate scene saver

Find what slows the viewport.

Frame Medic reads the scene with about a hundred rules, then times what it suspects. Each slowdown is ranked by its cost per frame: measured when it can be, estimated when it cannot, and labelled as such.

Slowdowns, ranked

Subdivision levels, heavy modifiers, textures that fill video memory, hidden objects that are still evaluated, rigs, curves, hair, Grease Pencil and add-on scripts that run on every frame. Each slowdown says why it costs and offers a fix when one is safe.

Measured on your machine

A fix is timed before and after. The result comes with its margin: a real gain, no gain, unclear, or slower. Health is measured for each shading mode from real playback and redraws, so Solid never pays for the render engine.

Fix All, renders unchanged

Every slowdown with a fix that keeps final renders identical and can be undone is fixed in one go, the costliest first. One undo takes it all back.

Frame Medic never turns off another add-on and never changes your GPU preference by itself. When Blender draws with the smaller of two cards, it tells you and opens the right setting.

Try it: heal this scene.

This little viewport struggles on purpose. Its frame rate is not a picture: it is measured in your browser, right now, the way Frame Medic reads Blender's.

Heal This Scene

One click runs the same five steps as the add-on. Watch the scene lose its subdivisions and small details, the scatter turn into placeholders and the bones disappear, while the character keeps dancing.

  1. Deep scan
  2. Fix what can be fixed
  3. Relief in every mode
  4. Auto, tuned on real frames
  5. Characters checked

A toy, not a benchmark: the scene above is drawn by this page. In Blender, Frame Medic measures your real playback and redraws.

Relief: lighter while you work.

Relief lightens the viewport for each shading mode, Solid, Material Preview and Rendered. It steps aside for final renders and gives back the exact scene when you pause it.

Auto, tuned on real frames

Auto chooses the Relief settings for this scene, then plays real frames to check them. A stronger step stays only if playback gets at least 6% faster. If it does not, Auto goes back to the step before.

While playing

During playback only what moves gets lighter. Characters keep moving, steady drivers are frozen, and heavy bone overlays hide until you stop. Scrubbing gets lighter only on a real drag, never on a click.

Instances & placeholders

Repeated objects can show a simpler look in the viewport: a box, a hull, a tree, a rock, or one of your own collections. Each shading mode can have its own look. Renders never see them.

Keep Sharp

The objects and collections you are working on stay at full detail, together with their rig.

Before Heal5.0fpsHealth 6
After Heal18.3fpsHealth 69

Measured with Measure FPS on Blender Studio's Spring scene: 1046 objects, 502 modifiers, two rigs, Solid view, both characters intact. Gains depend on the scene and the machine.

Safe by design.

A tool that touches your scene has to give it back exactly. We test every release on production scenes for this, and Frame Medic checks it again while you work.

Never saved

Relief, and the fixes of Heal and Fix All that it holds, are never written to your file. A saved copy is identical to the scene without Frame Medic. A fix you click yourself is a real change, and Ctrl Z undoes it.

Full-quality renders

Before a render, Relief steps aside. For a heavy scene, views in Material Preview or Rendered show Solid during a GPU render, so video memory goes to the render. Then everything comes back.

Rigs stay intact

A deformer, a bound chain, a target or a driven value is never touched. After Heal, each character is checked to deform as it did before.
